Cami at Home

The pandemic has more or less normalized remote work, which means there are more opportunities to work from home — even for those who live outside of the US.

Although there are many remote jobs that are still US-only, there are plenty of opportunities for those living in other countries.

Working from home has changed my life. As someone who has been working from home since 2016, I’m passionate about helping others find the same opportunities. Below, I’ve listed my favourite and most-trusted sites for finding remote jobs.

These jobsites aren’t going anywhere. At least, not for a long time. All the sites listed below are free to use and don’t require any sort of payment, debit, or credits to apply to jobs.

Table of Contents

Dynamitejobs.com

This is where I’ve had the most success with finding remote work, and is my all-time favourite job board. They’ve also made some improvements to make this job board even better.

Firstly, what I love about this platform is how unique many of the job postings are. Sure, some listings can be found on other sites, but Dynamite Jobs isn’t simply aggregating listings. It seems these are one of the sites that companies will actively place listings on in order to find employees. Based on that, the listings also seem to be legitimate. Generally, any job that you apply to on this site will lead to the company’s job application page. And when the application expires, it’s clearly noted in the listing as well.

Secondly, I love that there are so many categories to choose from! Long-gone are the days of having to sift through a plethora of unrelatable tech jobs and hope to find one that matches your skills. Dynamite Jobs has plenty of categories and subcategories to choose from (both in tech and outside of tech), making it easier for you to search for your desired role. Whether you’re interested in Marketing, Sales, Admin, HR, Writing — there are plenty of categories to choose from.

Thirdly, I love that you can filter by salary. What’s interesting is that not every listing has a salary listed. However, if you filter jobs by the salary range, you’ll still see all relevant jobs. I love this filter because it helps to give some insight about what compensation you can potentially expect from a role, and also helps you search for roles within your desired salary range.

And lastly, I love that you can now filter for jobs by country 🙌🏾. This is actually a feature I’ve requested from Dynamite Jobs, and I’m happy to see it was finally implemented. Previously, you would need to search for jobs by continent, which was a bit misleading as some jobs were country-specific (and you’d only find out by reviewing the actual job application when you’re applying😒). This filter makes it much easier to ensure that you’re applying for jobs relevant to where you live (if the job is country-specific). This feature is also the reason Dynamite Jobs is still my preferred job board, as it’s a feature many other site are missing.

There are still some improvements that could be made. But all in all, this is a job board to have on your radar. The listings are updated (and expire) regularly, so I’d suggest checking out this board at least once a month.

Angel.co (now Wellfound)

This job board is unique in that it’s dedicated to listing jobs from startups. Whether you’re seeking a tech or non-tech role, there are plenty of job categories to choose from!

Wellfound lists remote, hybrid, and in-person roles, so you’ll need to use the correct filters if you’re looking to work from home. You can search for remote jobs by clicking Jobs > Selecting the button in the Add a location field > Only remote jobs. It may also be helpful to toggle on Distributed teams only.

I’d also recommend updating the Preferences section of your profile to reflect that you’re open to working remotely. You can do this by selecting Edit Profile > Preferences > What locations do you want to work. Also ensure to check Open to working remotely. This will help to ensure that any companies coming across your profile will know your desired work arrangements.

What’s nice about Wellfound is that most jobs will have some sort of salary range listed. There are jobs that don’t, but the norm on this site is to have the range included. Similar to Dynamite Jobs, you can use additional filters to narrow down your search.

In order to review the jobs, you will need to sign up. But creating a profile is free, and applying to jobs is free as well. With this job board, you can apply directly on the job listing site or through the job board itself.

Something to keep in mind is that Wellfound doesn’t vet their listings to ensure they’re legitimate. I know I’ve found at least a few scam listings in the past, so ensure to do your due diligence when reviewing postings. If in doubt, submit your application directly on the company’s site.

WeWorkRemotely.com

WeWorkRemotely is the most popular job board to find remote work, and exclusively lists jobs that allow you work remotely. Used by big names like Google, Amazon, and Github, it is also the job board most commonly used by companies looking for remote employees. As with most job boards, you’ll find a variety of categories to choose from — the categories are broader, but there are still plenty of jobs.

The great thing about this job board is that the companies pay to post listings and must include some information about their company and the role (such as website, company logo, application link, etc). So, it’s very unlikely that you’ll come across scams on this site.

WeWorkRemotely has also updated their site to provide more information about any location restrictions. All jobs must indicate whether they can be done worldwide or if they are location specific, which is super helpful when searching for roles you can apply for. You can also click the magnifying glass to search for jobs by various features such as location, timezone, skills, etc.

In the past, I did notice that many of the job listings were restricted to US residents. However, it does seem that they’ve received more listings for folks outside of the US.

Remotive.io

This job board isn’t as pretty as the others, but it is an interesting site to consider and I think it would be worth your time. Remotive.io only lists fully remote opportunities, so you can trust that jobs listed on this site will never require you to travel to the office.

Similar to WeWorkRemotely, Remotive.io has a wide range of categories, and vets companies by having them pay to post listings, which reduces the chance of scams. This also makes many of the postings unique — I’ve found quite a few postings on this job board that I haven’t seen anywhere else.

The great thing about this board is that they have updated their filters, which allow you to search for jobs by location, skill, category, and even by company. You can use these filters by selecting a location in the sidebar, selecting a category from the Categories field, or by searching for keywords via the search bar.

If you haven’t already, I would definitely recommend bookmarking this site and reviewing it often for new listings.

LinkedIn Jobs

It’s likely that you already have a LinkedIn profile (if you don’t, make sure to create one!). But did you know that you could search for and apply to remote jobs from LinkedIn?

Granted, many jobs on LinkedIn require travel in some capacity. However, you can search for a fully remote job.

You can search for remote jobs by using their Jobs feature. Once you’ve logged in, select the Jobs tab and then click the search bar. Once you’ve input either a job type or job location, additional filters will appear. Click the On-site/Remote filter, select Remote, and click Search Results.

I would still encourage you to read through each listing to ensure that it’s fully remote, but using that filter should present you only with fully remote jobs.
